Porcelain crowns are frequently chosen to repair a tooth with excessive decay, teeth that need structural support after a root canal or teeth that are broken or cracked. Sometimes they are used to simply resolve the appearance of a tooth. Available crown materials include: - Porcelain bonded to precious metal - Porcelain/ceramic - Precious metal At least 2 visits are required, the first for the preparation, impression, shade taking and fitting the temporary crown and the second visit to fit the permanent crown.
